Process Communication Model (PCM)

The Process Communication Model (PCM) is a research-based Behavioural Model that provides the skills to be aware of different personalities behaviours, to understand each personality-types’ motivating factors, to understand different communication preferences of each personality type and to manage communication, miscommunication and distress.  These skill-sets are proven through decades of research and practice to help individuals and teams achieve better performance.  PCM was developed by renowned psychologist Taibi Kahler in the United States, and is used by many multinational corporations, organisations and government bodies globally.  PCM has also been used by NASA for their astronaut selection programme.

Leading out of DramaTM (LOD)

The Leading Out of DramaTM (LOD) model is developed by Next Element, a global laboratory based in the United States for advancing the art and science of transformative communication. This model was developed through decades of research and evidence based best practices, and is used in many large and small organisations alike globally.  This model is designed to create self-awareness about how individuals participate in, and contribute to negative and positive conflict situations.  The skills learnt will help make sense of cultures of gossip and sabotage, especially in teams and organisations undergoing change.  The model will also provide the necessary skillsets to address negative conflict situations and to turn them into positives conflict for better productivity.

Typical Engagement Model

The First Phase

  • The first phase of an engagement will be to provide clients with the skills to understand other personalities through the Learning Modules.
  • These facilitated classroom sessions will be delivered in groups of 8 – 12 people at a time, and will cover the skills of the PCM and/or LOD Models.
  •  These facilitated sessions will combine theoretical concepts of the models with experiential learning techniques such as role play exercises, work based scenario skills practice and interactive exercises.
  • Besides learning the concepts as a group, the team will learn from each other through feedback and experience sharing.

The second phase

  • The second phase will be the One-on-One Coaching with each participant following the Learning Module, based on real-world negotiation scenarios.
  • This coaching will involve guidance and feedback on utilising the PCM and/or LOD Models in negotiation situations
  • The purpose of the personal development plan is to go deep into each participants personality profile and to identify areas of strengths, motivation, distress and development needs.
  • This personalised coaching typically involves self reflection, sharing of personal goals, and feedback.
  • Furthermore, this coaching will allow for a safe environment for each participant to build that personal development plan, and to track towards personal success.
